Knowledge on the principle of "learning by doing"

Cultivate and harvest organic vegetables in our own garden

"You are what you eat", it is said in a proverb. How important it is to eat healthy, is shown to the “Futures Citizen children” from an early age on. Bibi Funyal and his team created a vegetable garden with the children. To learn about different plant species, to nurture them and to cultivate them, to grow, to harvest, to process and to eat the vegetables they produce in organic quality - that's what this project is all about. From time to time the children even cook their own meals.

School-free day becomes the project day "grow rice"

Bibi Funyal and the children used a stay at home in Jiri on July 23 to plant rice and millet. "It is important to me that the children get to know our traditions and culture, which includes agriculture. We have set rice seedlings for two hours and will harvest about 300 kg of rice as a whole. So we can produce what we need ourselves", said Bibi Funyal. Rice and millet are among the basic foods in the Nepalese cuisine.
